Hydrothermal geothermal energy
Geothermal energy uses the heat naturally present in the Earth's crust for heating, cooling or power generation. It is weather-independent, available all year round and regionally available, as well as being free from fossil fuels combustion.
Drinking water and groundwater protection
At least two boreholes, the production well and the injection well, are required to access the hot deep water at depths of several kilometers. During their construction, various aquifers, some of which are used for drinking water supplies, must be drilled through. To protect this valuable resource in the best possible way, higher water legislation provides certain regulations, that compliance with which is permanently monitored.
Protection against seismic events
The safety of Lautr's buildings is a high priority, both during preliminary investigations and throughout the construction and operation of a geothermal plant. We make every effort to prevent man-made seismic events in the best possible way by means of comprehensive preliminary investigations and corresponding planning as well as close monitoring.
Geothermal energy in the Upper Rhine Graben
The Upper Rhine Graben is one of three regions in Germany where the potential of geothermal energy has already been proven, and where geothermal plants are in operation.
